HAWK 4 UPDATE As you can see in the picture above, first fit up of the engine to the support frame, and the support frame to the fuselage has been completed. The twin turbo charged, fuel injected and intercooled Teledyne Continental TSIO-550 will provide 350 hp to power the Hawk 4 Gyroplane through its wide performance parameters. Provisional specifications call for a minimum speed to maintain level altitude in the area of 35 mph and a top speed of 150 mph. Click on "Teledyne" for more information about Teledyne Continental and their products. The layout of the instrument panel (below, in process of assembly) provides easy access to flight information. LANDING GEAR In the picture below, Kirk Shaw of our Manufacturing Department displays our nose gear and left main gear. Our Corporate motto is "For the 21st Century, design and build gyroplanes that have the quality, durability and longevity that qualify the aircraft to be called the "DC-3" of gyroplanes." Like the DC-3, the solid, ruggedness of the Hawk 4 is easily apparent in the landing gear design. The Hawk 4 will make an excellent off airport landing aircraft. With its vertical take off and landing capabilities, a pilot will have access to a variety of landing sites and the ability to get there and back quickly and safely. The tail and horizontal stabilizer for the first Hawk 4 are quickly nearing completion. ROTOR BLADES The first set of rotor blades have been completed and painted. They are currently undergoing C scan ultrasound testing and upon approval will be sent to our Flight Operations facility in Buckeye, AZ. They will be fitted to the first Hawk 4 for flight testing prior to its debut next month at the EAA AirVenture ‘99 air show in Oshkosh, WI.
