Was this an expected revenue from the patents? I don't recall any talk of UMC using our patents?

Not a bad chuck of change,eh?

Almost a $1/share in cash!

If the $42M payment is for license fees and release of contingencies related to the Jan 6 1998 sale of USC shares then I have a question about the worth of the license fees. My understanding was that S3 could receive up to $45M more from the 1998 sale contingent upon certain "liquidity events". Did they give up the potential $45M payment if USC went public and license out certain patents for $42M present payment?
