Actully you are wrong. Currently VOVO still has a seperate purchasing Dept, seperate than Ford. the Merger was only a short time ago. Ford is the parent but it was shipped to Volvo!

Volvo cars did merge with Ford, however Volvo is very big in trucks (mostly commercial) world wide.

Tiger lily yes volvo automobiles has been taken over. However 'volvo' cars will be manufactured as before. They are more prestigious than a Ford. I don't know whether separate plants will remain.
