UK's Dialog<DLG.L>in alliance with Fujitsu<6702.T>

LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - British online business information group Dialog Corporation Plc <DLG.L> announced on Wednesday it had signed a technology licencing and distribution agreement with Japan's Fujitsu Ltd <6702.T>.

The deal will help Dialog to establish its InfoSort technology as a global standard for information categorisation.

News of the alliance immediately boosted shares in debt-laden Dialog, which was created by the 261 million pound reverse takeover of Knight Ridder Information by Maid in 1997. The shares were up 15-1/2 pence or 14 percent to 125 pence in pre-market trade at 0720 GMT on the London Stock Exchange.

The Japanese company will also incorporate Dialog's broad range of online services within its information technology solutions provided to its worldwide customers.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair hailed the deal as a "welcome development in Anglo-Japanese trading relations."

"I am particularly encouraged by this news, not only because of the immediate benefits that will accrue to a British company, but also because Britain's reputation for innovation and competitiveness in IT will be greatly enhanced in Japan and around the world," Blair said in a statement.
