Don't kid yourself... if a person has and uses an internet connection, it is no longer a "luxury" item... it is close to being a necessity. Will these people give up their TVs and Microwaves?
Internet connection will be like utilities...we don't even think much paying it to stop from uninterrupted service....

GO AOL....am I worried?
NO.

Dr. Zax,

While I think that KB's comments make no sense (internets are hypergrowth companies and their value lie not in their cash reserves from which they can draw interest, or they should be valued like money center banks which have different risk and PE profiles) I do not think that internet is a luxury item any more than local telephone service is (and is probably cheaper too). That said, the article was hype and nothing else; unnecessary hype at that, for the connection between interest rate hike and slippage in internet growth rates is much weaker than for some other traditional industries.

People that have been on the net for awhile will NOT give it up.They think of it in the same vein as their TV,Telephone, and other pleasures that yes, they could do without but no, they will not.
