Global Media Penetrates Television and Cable Markets with Licensing of its E-commerce Network

Solution Includes Complete Audio and Video Streaming Combined with E-commerce

June 9, 1999 08:58 AM
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Media GLMC ( globalmediacorp.com ) has announced that it is now marketing its turnkey E-commerce solution to large and small market Television Media companies, at both the Network and independent scale. Global Media has been focused on marketing its E-Commerce solution primarily to Radio stations in the United States and Canada. In an independent market study conducted by Global Media of Television and Cable markets in North America, the company concluded that most companies in both small and large markets broadcasting television signals into Urban and Rural markets, hosted websites but were without any visible E-Commerce from within their Internet presence. Global Media has been successful in marketing its network to over 1,500 Radio Stations in North America and has now begun to market outside traditional Radio and into a now emerging Television market evidenced without any strong Internet presence.
Chief Executive Officer of Global Media, Robert Fuller said today, "Management believes very strongly that this highly overlooked Television Market is a perfect setting for Global Media's turnkey E-Commerce media model which we offer to other media companies. This is a complete solution for this next wave of Internet business."

Michael Metcalfe, President of Global Media said, "The power of Television Broadcasters to drive business to there own site using the medium of television to brand what they already own in their customers market, is enormous. This is about as big a market as one can hope to penetrate and we are making progress now. I would expect the impact of this campaign, combined with the streaming elements that we have announced in the launching of our Global Media Broadcast Network, will change the company's exposure to this new market dramatically."

The Global Media Broadcast Network initiatives will see the deployment of an integrated broadcasting solution for radio stations, including automated encoding, back end services to manage and monitor broadcasts, and a robust e-commerce solution providing members with compelling opportunities to generate advertising, merchandising, and promotional revenue. Additionally, end-users of the network will have access to a completely personalized Global Player, which will allow them to select and experience Global Media Network content. Global Media's streaming partner RealNetworks RNWK will be supporting the expansion of The Global Media network and its e-commerce solutions through targeted co-marketing to users of the Real Broadcast Network (RBN).

Global Media Network programming will broadcast through the RBN distributed multi-tier network where hundreds of station encoders will be linked to a sophisticated head-end master station manager, and then distribute streaming live audio/video feeds to a Global Media Network licensees. Through an integrated ad-insertion capability, Global Media is able to offer advertising reach to the millions of Global Media Network users.
