Stew, Although my presentation was designed to emphasize some of the unique features of SanDisk and to draw parallels with the principles Moore has published, I never intended to imply that it had or ever will achieve Gorilla status. At its core it is just a small cap semiconductor company with a sound IP portfolio waiting for the consumer markets to employ its creations and the average investor (and tinkerer) to discover its beauty. The take home message is that SanDisk sits at the crossroads of several technologies which are about to take off. I have tried to emphasize flash memory's role in facilitating the everyday application of digital photography. This line of reasoning lends credence to the principle of a discontinuous innovation or, at minimum, a peaceful coexistence with an established standard. Please acknowlegde that there are some value chain principles in play. Also, please consider my argument concerning switching costs associated with the defacto standard known as the CompactFlash slot. Finally, Dr. Harari has offered his critical discoveries as an open standard and I am certain it will bring great proprietary success to SanDisk in the long run. Anybody who has bothered to look deeper into this company will see the potential. In fact, the royalty revenue streams to date and the company's track record in defending its key contributions to the field (some 70 patents) are immediately apparent, even to the untrained eye. IMHO, SanDisk has an extremely bright future. In fact, I believe the SanDisk story has much in common with a favorite of this thread, QCOM, which faced similar hurdles and realized significant reward in defending the CDMA standard. My recommendation to those on this thread is not to have your eyes blinded by the barrels of you binoculars as you comb the forest for primates. Who knows, maybe an even more exotic creature might walk right past you. I wish to summarize my argument in the final chapter that I outlined in my origianl posts. That will be my final contribution to this thread. Ausdauer
