Steven:I am not sure about the local calls in Europe,but in many countries they do charge for local calls. I am sure someone from Europe will let us know.

The problem in Europe is not 'free access'... It is the 'per minute' charges that the phone companies levy. They don't have unlimited local plans as we do here. The phone costs far outweigh ISP costs if one spends much time at all online....

My exchange student from Denmark last year said local calls are charged by the minute, so there is not much internet use there.
