Re SIA forecast

It's interesting that the SIA forecast incorporates a 25% DRAM revenue growth component. It sure looks like price per megabit is running about 50% of last year's level (64Mb went from $25 to $10 in 1H98 and has gone from $10+ to near $5 this year). If revenues go up 25% and prices decline by 50%, then units have to grow 150%. Even after acknowledging that there are a lot of older parts that have not seen such steep price erosion, the SIA forecast seems to me to be unduly optimistic in light of the current DRAM realities (and the likely prospects over the next several months). - Tad LaFountain
