Greg, I believe any individual client holding over 5% would be required to register. For example, If 8 clients each hold 4% the total would be 32% but none of them would have to register under the 5% rule. I have no idea of the number of clients at each firm or the share distribution. The firms are Prudential and Payne Weber.

I doubt very seriously that 60% of the stock is controlled by 2 large wire houses. As of the most recent information the large holders are as follows:

Carl Berg 12.57%
Lev Dawson 7.24%
Telecordia Techno something or other 5.62%
Dimension Fund Advisors 3.19%
Barclays Bank PLC 1.33%

No other holder holds more than .5% of the outstanding shares. These numbers are per 13(G) and 13(F) filings to the SEC. So it doesn't look like wire houses have big stakes, or at least if they are, they're extremely well disguised.
