<<Would a cell phone be able to retrieve e-mails or other info that is downloaded on my computer while I am away?>> Tom, a company called Premier Technologies (PTEK) has a product called "Orchestrate" (spelling?) e-mail by phone, that does exactly what you're asking now. The service cost $19.95 / month and doesn't require any additional hardware or software. You can call from any phone anywhere and it converts your e-mail text message to voice over the phone. Furthermore you can reply and it converts your voice to text and then sends the mail. You can learn more about it and their other products and holdings by going to their web site or visit the SI thread: PTEK.
