West Texas town of El Paso An all-time great song thanks for posting the singers name! Do you think it can be found on anything not vinyl?

El Paso Numero Dos
(As best I can remember from a Homer & Jethro record)

Down in the west texas town of El Paso
I spent a whole week out there one day
I looked around for Rose's Cantina
I think Hernando had hid it away.

I heard the cab driver holler Ole'
"Come to Velveeta's cafe -hey -hey -hey"
They'll be the cha-cha to shake your maraccas
Over the bridge that they call Santa Fe

And Away - we went into the traffic
and over the river.
I asked the cab driver why all the fuss?
"Why do you follow the front cab so closely"
He said "I have to 'cause he's towing us"

Velveta's cafe had standing room only.
Wall to wall drunks all the way to the street.
I looked around for a place I could sit down.
A lady stood up then, so I grabbed her seat.

Nightime still found me at Velveta's cafe.
The lights had gone down as they struck up the band.
I started to look 'round. and got into trouble.
Just then a drunk stepped on top of my hand.

I saw Velveta's eyes looking at me.
Bloodshot and shining with scorn -corn -corn corn
("Hey I thought the word was scorn, why are you yelling corn?"
" I knowed we should have used the name 'brothers'")

I asked her where have you been all my lifetime?
She answered "most of it I wasn't born"

So in Anger, I tore out of there like a big herd of turtles.
Over the river and back to my car.
Goodbye to Juarez and goodbye El Paso.
Goodbye Velveeta, whatever you are.
