It stands for asynchronistic digital subscriber line. ( high speed connection). I won't even attempt to explain the technology as there are others on this thread far more knowledgable than me.

Boris< ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber line. That means that information ( in digital format ) moves in in 2 opposite directions at different speeds. Usually from server to client ( downstream ) is faster than from client to server ( upstream ). And that is because most people do more down loading than writing emails,
