FMK;

Interesting. I kicked off this whole discussion with an offhand comment. Adding my 2 cents for what it's worth, Prudential and Payne are well known market makers on the NASDAQ and it should not be surprising that their clients hold 30% or more correctly, that they hold 30% for their clients in "street name". Chances are that they are two of the principal market makers in this stock. If that is true then it is possible that they know who is holding they bulk of the shorts. They may even be responsible for some of it as they also own and manage several hedge funds. They might be conducting arbitrage operations against their clients' holdings. It's profit! Can anyone find out?
Bill

I suspect that the Bellecore shares are included in the Telecordia Techo something or other. These figures come from the Bloomberg system which I use at work, and B'Berg gets that information from the SEC. I can't say for sure that the Bellcore shares would have to be reported to the SEC, but, if they aren't, then I would suspect there something different about them (restricted stock, etc). Don't know for sure on that one, just an educated guess.

The punchline being that I think ownership of this company is in pretty strong hands, and that a hostile takeover would have a very hard time succeeding. (Of course, at $100/share, even I just might be tempted.)
