Is it possible to have a helpfully oriented G&S thread, Well, Joan may correct me if I'm wrong, but I never felt that this thread was created to be a Grammatical Big Brother. If there were questions about certain choices of words or structure, or there were common misuses noticed, these were discussed. But it was never the intention to embarrass people who aren't quite as adept with the language as others might be. Being corrected for a wrong word when you're trying to express yourself is like being slapped in the face while speaking- it hurts and it inhibits. Now that said, teasing someone like joan or ALex or yourself who are all extremely GOOD with both words and grammar and quite confident of yourselves, probably isn't going to traumatize anyone. Alex and I will do gotchas! by PM, but we always try to do it so the other (who is usually me) can fix it.
