Ok mighty opala, how about if you explain why 3COM is executing poorly on rebates now but hasn't in the past. To get to the balance sheet as an obligation, the rebate has to pass thru the income stream.

You don't actually believe 3COM has been above board with its financial statements in the past, do you? I remember a SEC review a while back about the massive write-downs the company took over the USR acquisition.

Opalapril: Excellent response to someone who wasn't paying attention in "Principles of Accounting 101"! Paperchase obviously is not familiar with the network sector during this time of year...it is in the seasonal sideways pattern along with others. Anyone...analyst's included... basing their forward forcasting upon rebate payments would certainly look extremely foolish to say the least!
