RE: but maybe i've missed something

Badon, you've missed nothing -- great post.
It's been an intersting 24 hours watching all of the "yahoos" show up here, no?

The market is just too nervous right now... the bonds have everyone freaked out and any excuse at all to sell off .. CMGI is the same but better w/revenues and the announcement that stockholders can now participate in IPOs and the creation of 2 new funds.. but hey, I guess investors are playing this with their gut and its a nervous gut. If they were actually using their heads we would be fine. IMO

the way cmgi operates is quite different from other companies. that's why cmgi does not differentiate between one-time charges and exclude that from operating expenses just to make the results more positive. since cmgi continually have startup, ipo and related charges for taking subs to the market, those one-time charges will occur every quarter. that is the main reason why earnings are not the main criteria to evaluate the company since it can easily shift those "one-time" charges to the next quarter to make current quarter looks good. a couple years ago aol did that by shifting revenues and then restate the previous quarter. cmgi does not do that. therefore, if somebody talks about fundamentals and just look at the earnings, he/she is not looking at the entire picture.

best regards

paul

Others are sure to have a different opinion after yesterday, but what has changed with CMGI? Nothing, IMO.

I was traveling all Friday and missed the excitement. But what happened yesterday shouldn't have been wholly unexpected and doesn't affect my view of CMGI.

Best regards,

Mark
