AOL/DELL/Solectron Head List of Best Information Technology Firms, BW Says

eddie:
Here is an interesting take on Dell and others from BW.
======================

New York, June 10 (Bloomberg) -- America Online Inc., Dell Computer Corp. and Solectron Corp. are the best-performing information-technology companies, according to Business Week's ranking of the top 100 such companies. The magazine said the top fifth of the list included six networking and telecommunications equipment companies, three telecommunications carriers and a trio of hardware manufacturers that make servers, which keep the Internet running. Not one Web-site company is in the upper tier, though online auctioneer eBay Inc. finished No. 23, Business Week said.

Worldwide sales of computer chips rose 7.3 percent in April to $11.2 billion as sales in Japan jumped compared to a year earlier.
