The rumblings seem odd - I don't see how the carry trade can currently exact the same beating it dished out last fall - the yen has not had the same violent moves to indicate that a large player has succumbed. The BoJ sold yen for dollars earlier this week when the yen strengthened too much, which would be a boon to the carry-trade holder. If you punted a carry-trade when the yen was around 110, you'd be doing quite well now.
