Ya I got confused. Well my grandfather bought a couple of acres in Pacific Grove (near Monterey and Carmel). He cleared it himself and built the house himself. It was the depression and he was a good builder but he didn't know plumbing so guess what they had??? An outhouse. Even when my mother was dating my father they still didn't have a regular bathroom. That would have been in the late 40's early 50's. My father was born with a silver spoon in my mothers eyes because he went to private schools and they had a bathroom.LOL

My mother has always been very concerned about living in a upper middle class neighbor hood. These things are very important to her. It is part of her identity. I am more like my dad. More layed back about these things. Maybe because we never felt like we went without. I think my mother is still ashamed of her early life.
