tom's hardware is learning a new tune. beginning to sound like a politician. i predict that very soon the rest of the fudsters will be telling us how rambus looks good, then what a nice improvement it seems to be, then how great rambus is. otherwise they have zero credibility when the world realizes that the bus wins and they want us to read their take on the next tech.

to all. my take. in the past 2 years there has been no new break-thrus in the pc world. even apple has resorted to see-thru candy-apple design and marketing to sell and hype their wares.intels pIII is not noticeably faster than 233 pII's. RMBS is the best thing to happen to the pc world.(let alone other memory fields.) rmbs is the one thing that will separate the wheat from the chaff.think about it . dell,(the 2/3 news is huge) sony ,(seems to have all japan tied up with playstation II) and intels need for rmbs to sell their processors, and the whole industry needs to move on to faster memory in the future, all ensure rmbs's acceptance. we WILL see camino in sept. dell should start to advertise their new pc's soon. who else can compete with the speed? i've talked to computer programers, system designers and local computer business reps. almost without exception, they knew nothing about rmbs. we on this thread know more then 90% of the industry about rmbs. once the pr starts in the real world, there will no stopping this bus of ours. it all boils down to " you gotta believe" --- intel, dell, cpq, samsung, micron, sony etc. they all believe. rocky sis, boom, rah!!!

unclewest, very nice post. I agree with your assessment. The 600/700/800 news is old news, but rolled out in a nice new marketing strategy. Get RMBS on the market now, minimize the risks, minimize the costs, segment the market. PC133? Sure, if it takes off, INTC can support it. What else could Barrett say?

Uncle,

Sorry about not being able to keep up with you in chronological order.

I've been in a few IBM restrooms in my time, and I firmly believe that, if you combine the resources of all the entities you mention, that you could indeed equal one of them.
