And I'm making more and more money on my short position every day.

Michelle,

That was a good post, and I share the same sentiments. Amazon is the poster child of the anti-net stock crowd, probably since they, like MicroSoft, have a distinct leader. If we want to talk about conventional valuations, it is pretty tough to say amzn is out of this world compared to e-bay, aol, yhoo, or pcln. Having a distinct figure head gives bears someone to shoot at, and has led to the large amount of propaganda thrown at amzn.

On a negative note, I have migrated toward Sarmad's position with
regard to when Amzn will make a big move. I am still fully invested, but it sure looks like the nets aren't not going to make a big, pre-earnings move this quarter. When I say big, I mean 100%. A 50% pop is doable, and will be great. The analysts are creating a lot of headwind now, projecting big moves in the 4th quarter, but no great shakes for the summer. Blodget was on cnn last night, again.

>>>One item I remain disappointed with in regards to Amazon is the awful advertising. Get a new agency and promotion before Christmas. <<<

You said a mouthful there.....it is frustrating, from an investor's standpoint, that they have all this money to spend, yet keep repeating the same inane ads over and over. I've heard of going for the lowest common denominator, but what's the point..what's the message? Is the average consumer really impressed that Amazon needs vast facilities in which to store its merchandise? I just don't understand the pitch and even if I did, I think they need to develop a new theme....this one has been beaten to death.

Until recently, Dell was also having trouble with its ads.....lately, they've been more focused.....i think they switched to a new agency....maybe bezos should call up Michael Dell and do the same.

I sent this message to you Glenn because I think you and I and some others have felt that
there was no method behind this madness at Amazon. That they just wanted to get their
hands on all this money and spend away, since we didn't know what all these warehouses
were for etc. Well once you put all these ventures together there seems to be a very
agressive plan here which is working so far.

Michelle,

Thank you for your thoughts and I agree with many of them. I recently did a 180 with AMZN. I do wish I knew what these large centers were for. It would help me feel more comfotable with my position.

AMZN does spend more for their sites but they do it better. I believe BKS closed the gap a bit in boks based on the site but not on sales. Books are not the issue for AMZN now anyhow. BKS likely will stick with books, music, software and video.

One item I remain disappointed with in regards to Amazon is the awful advertising. Get a
new agency and promotion before Christmas.

I can't see anyone disagreeing with this. My wife and I discussed it and thought their adds were the worst. They have been so agressive in spending on them too. A quick change would help.

May I have your opinion on AOL since I am worrying??:-)
