For stocks and soon futures: Quotes Plus 2 is the best EOD data and scanning capability out there. And it is cheaper than any. A person with average skills can produce scans that are very complex. It is fast.

Oz,

Morning Trader scans are initially derived through TC2000 easy scan filters, then many potentials are pushed through SuperCharts manually (primarily for Fibonacci retracements).

Only about 25% of my trading comes from these published picks (I love the Dips Trips but don't have the patience for the Coiled Springs). The other 75% of my trading comes just from watching my favorite 20-30 stocks during the day.

I'm a liquidity and NYSE fan. The NYSE stocks tend to be the same rain or shine, i.e. LU, PFE, IBM, TXN, GE, MU, etc. Many of the NASD stocks change except for the big 5-10.

Alan

<what software do you use to scan stocks on a daily basis?>

I use Window on Wallstreet Daytrader, with an internet data feed. You can write your own indicators/systems very easily to scan for setups. An inexpensive alternative is TC2000, from the Warden Brothers. I've used it too, works very well and is FAST. Metastock and Supercharts are also very good for this sort of thing.

Ozwald:

Could each of you discuss what software or service that you are using to scan stocks on a daily basis.

For daily data, I used to used TC2000. I liked the way you could program custom studies and scan for a very specific criteria. For daytrading purposes, I use a proprietary system that I wrote myself. It allows me to scan for a wide variety of conditions for all Nasdaq stocks. Others will have a much better idea of the commercially available scanning packages.
