Lola,
Some very strange (awful) customs to abide by.
I'm glad you got out of such a ridiculous system.
I always felt that so many people throughout history
have died and/or led lives bordering on slavery all
in the name of religion.

For people who need such a rigid life, so be it.
Just don't look down on someone who chooses NOT to
be a follower.

This is one of the many freedoms in America.Freedom (in its' total sense) scares many people as well as countries and not just for the obvious reasons.

Look at Russia. People dying in the streets. The average age of mortality is 55 years old .The lowest in the world. There is no food, no work,no money. But plenty of readily available Vodka! Ah Yes!,Vodka for the masses! So now they drink themselves to death waiting for the country to come to help them like they did before.Except nobody is coming. The state is no longer responsible for you.YOUR FREE!!
They just don't understand what that entails.

Anyway, is it true that if a women in India is pregnant and she knows that it's a girl, she must abort it? I find that horrendous. Otherwise, she is stigmatized forever by her family and friends.
Sorry i went on such a tangent,
SjS
