Ten - Re: "All these product announcements tell me that Intel's 0.18 micron process is for real now, that it isn't just an announcement months before product release"

Good point.

I wonder when Compaq is going to "get around" to shipping their Kmart 63 notebooks?

I recall they said "later this quarter" !

Ten & Intel Investors - Intel's 0.18 micron 400 MHz Mobile Pentium II (Dixon QS) runs at 1.5 volts with a MAXIMUM power dissipation of 9.8 WATTS at 400 MHz.

This compares with the 0.25 micron Dixon which dissipates 13.10 watts MAXIMIUM at 366 MHz !

Now that's PROGRESS !

I don't know what the "typical" power dissipation is for these chips - which is what AMD likes to SPEC their mobile parts at.

You bet! An outstanding achievement by the world's best semiconductor manufacturer.
