AOL dropped below its 200 DMA in early July 1996 and stayed well below it until the end of November that year. As I noted in an earlier post, AOL that summer lost 65% as it fell from a high of 68 to a low of 24 (adjusted for the three 2:1 splits that have since occurred).

Beliweve me, I remember it well, my first AOL buy was that Fall after I decided the down side from 24, while certainly a risk, was limited.
