Scumbria - Re:"Intel is a perfect company."

It's pretty clear that what Ten was trying to say is that:
1) Intel's production and processes are controlled considerably better than AMD's leading to fewer surprises at the production level.
2) Intel doesn't announce products that haven't already been in production for a while, in customer's hands (OEMs). AMD has made announcements in the past which have been followed by a serious lack of chip flow to vendors.

Since I know that you know this, I am somewhat startled at your sarcasm and slightly off-center take on the statement. You are usually more careful about the facts than this.

Intel of course has had snafus. But AMD's production snafus have been sufficiently frequent and sufficiently important that, IMHO, it is prudent to reserve opinion about their ability to produce good volume, efficient yields, good bin splits, with a new device and a new process in tandem. Unfortunately for AMD at this moment (and possibly good fortune for AMD investors IF AMD can produce satisfactorily in the near future) investors are currently wary of a company that has experienced weaker than expected production coupled with a habit of providing bad news before a quarterly report. Sometimes real bad news.

Regards,
Burt

And how many of those snafus made by Intel actually hit the bottom line? Only one, the FDIV bug, and that was only a one-quarter hit in the revenue and income charts.

How many of the snafus made by AMD hit their bottom line? Almost all of them.
