Nice time to add more stock, except that rising interest rates and later Y2K fears will give the market fits, IMHO.

Someone asked yesterday if you knew how amd's quiet period works. Is it more likely that they would preannounce an earnings shortfall prior to their quiet period or is it just as likely for them to do it anytime? Is there any governing rule over this issue? I had always thought that the major companies, if they had not preannounced a month before earnings (which usually coincides with their quiet period), than they would not preannounce at all and that their quarter was in line with expectations. It seems if that rule exists, AMD broke it last quarter.
