Michael,

wasn't Kurlak with ML? He made a few honest calls and was convenient "retired"? I wonder how many analysts with bearish opinions would last with these big brokerage houses.

Merrill's hyping forced me to buy some puts on TXN and ALTR today <g>. MER may know more than SIA does, and what is SIA's tracking record? who knows and who cares <g>.

Here's a decent summary of, and some quotes from, the ML tout:

iionline.com

As always, ML's take on MU is a howler:

Another positive harbinger for the
semiconductor industry is an improvement
in DRAM pricing. Osha believes that the
elimination of excess capacity built between
1993 and 1996 is finally allowing memory prices
to firm, which bodes well for Micron Technology
(NYSE: MU - Quotes, News, Boards). Osha
feels that current capacity additions are being
more efficiently targeted, bolstering the outlook
for this ultra commodity sector.

Looks like Kipp's inventory announcement caught them by surprise.
