Well, I have read some Brin. I didn't remember it, but I recognize both Heart of the Comet and Earth. I don't remember anything about Heart of the Comet; it's possible that I have it floating around here somewhere, or I might have just picked it up enough times that it seems like I've read it. I do remember Earth, though. That was a great book.

I have a copy of Lem's Solaris. I might have read it all the way through, but I don't think so. Lem in general is pretty impenetrable. This is the same problem that I've had with Gene Wolfe. His writing is impressive, but it takes more work to get through it than I'm generally willing to put out for a novel.

I haven't read Janissaries, but I've picked it up enough times that I can visualize the cover. The only Pournelle (by himself) that I can remember reading is a great non-fiction collection on black holes.

Thanks for the heads up on Sundiver, and The Forge of God and Anvil of Stars. I'll be looking for them.
