Figured all of us who are hooked on this genre of writing needed a place to get together to talk about:

- favourite Sci-fi (ok, and Fantasy) writers
- great series
- recommendations, and
- technology/concepts presented.

I'm no expert on all of the different writers out there or their collective works, but I'm an avid fan.

Started when I was travelling by myself across Canada when I was 16 (ok, ok that was in 1978). Never having been a reader prior to that trip, I found myself having only travelled for 4 hours and completely bored. The bus stopped in North Bay (Canada's NORAD site) and I searched the barren magazine rack for something to "read" ... actually I was looking for the latest MAD Magazine. There wasn't anything worthwhile and as I was leaving, I scanned the book rack and came across a book called, "Tunnel in the Sky". The concept, about a futuristic high school survival class being transported to a distant planet, only to be stranded, intrigued me.

I was hooked and haven't looked back since.

Let's have fun and freely share our thoughts about the genre of writing that lets you dream of the future and how it might be.

Cheers, Rory.
