You would have thought that the new model would have been discounted already, but I think you are right. Insiders registering their stock for sale, as well as the uncertainty of suits and the possibility that TDFX might have to write off some receivables, the cost of litigation and the fact that stores are now promoting their competition rather than Voodoo 3 (which they are probably down) have all contributed to the stock's recent weakness. Stock must go back above 16 soon.

JPA Predicts 1999 To Be Biggest Year Ever For 3D Add-In Boards

1999 shipments expected to be over 72 million units

Business Editors

TIBURON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1999--Jon Peddie
Associates (JPA), the leading market research firm covering digital
media technology, today announced the findings from their annual
study, the Add-In Graphics Board Market Study.
1999 is expected to be the biggest year for 3D add-in board (AIB)
shipments, topping out at 72.23 million units, a 15.4% increase over
1998. The Mainstream segment, (which includes game-class AIB's based
on 3D graphics controllers such as the 3dfx Voodoo3 and Nvidia Riva
TNT2), will be the most robust and is expected to peak in 2000 with
41.06 million units.
"The Mainstream AIB market is hot now, but it is volatile," said
Dr. Jon Peddie, president JPA. "Looking beyond 1999, we see a steady
decline to only 30 million units shipped in 2004. This is due to a
projected increase in the inclusion of graphics controllers on
motherboards."

Other key findings

- Motherboard graphic controller implementation will consist of
710,000 controllers in 1999 and jump to 13.84 million units in
2004, an increase of 1849% during this five-year period.

- The entry-level IA-32 category will dominate the Workstation AIB
segment. This category is expected to grow 74% over the next five
years from 190,000 units in 1999 to 330,000 units in 2004.

- The best opportunity in the Basic PC and Server segments will be
for integrated controller suppliers, expected to ship 15.41
million units in 1999 and 105.86 million units in 2004 -- an
increase of 587%.
