re: burbs

Wrong!! Everything within 5 miles of me are spec homes built by developers who have a large appetite for dollars.
For sometime now, these houses have not been easily sold. I know because my wife has been in the real estate business for 25 years. The houses do not sell until the prices have been reduced to the bare minimum with the hope of the developer that he can realize, at least, his original investment. Some have dropped out of the picture. The only variance from this are the new Compaq employees who are desperate for housing and can afford more than the average Joe.

If people were to live in higher densities, the quality of life would be greatly diminished. If thats the way you want to live, go right ahead with my blessings but, don't ask the rest of us to follow your lead. There is lots of land still available without the insane sardine can living of places like NYC and LA. I lived for 5 years in LA and will never return, even for a visit to Disneyland.
