I agree about Kleiner... the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. But this Drugstore
situation is interesting to watch.... I think Drugstore.com has pulled ahead and this is a
hot area. They will win I suspect, I was unsure 2 mos ago and gave planetRX the edge in
fact (so did the WSJ).

Michelle,

I have been watching both and Drugstore.com has definitly pulled ahead. I even buy from them now.

Look for dial soap on PlanetRx and then look for it on Drugstore.com. This may sound silly but try this with a lot of name brand products and you will see what I mean. That was the only research I could do.

I have my doubts about the objectivity of the WSJ and NYT...

...when it comes to reporting on Kleiner Perkins and their keiretsu. I don't know if it an East coast vs West coast thing, or what the underlying source of the animosity is.

Recall the hatchet job the WSJ did on HLTH last September, which contributed to their decision to yank their IPO. Paul Gigot appears to hate John Doerr's guts. Did you see the bizarre smear he did on May 21?

Gore Slams Doerr
On Silicon Valley

By PAUL A. GIGOT

Few people have done more than John Doerr to make Al Gore the next president. So why won't the veep speak up now that his Silicon Valley patron really needs him?

That's the question high-tech business chiefs are asking privately as they watch Mr. Doerr get the bum's rush from a White House where he was supposed to have clout. On a bill to protect business from frivolous Y2K lawsuits, Mr. Doerr is getting clobbered by a mortal enemy that also happens to be a major Gore benefactor--the plaintiff's bar.>>>

I am not posting the whole thing, for copyright considerations. For some reason it will not give me a URL to post. You'd have to search John Doerr at the WSJ for the whole editorial. As far as I have read (I have a news tracker set on John Doerr, among other people and companies) Doerr never tried to sponsor or support legislation against Y2K lawsuits. Gigot beats Doerr up for not succeeding at something that he was never trying to do in the first place.

It is massive project to prove media bias, but I have been tuned into this for a couple years. It is rare for the WSJ to have a kind word for anything having to do with Kleiner Perkins. So I take the WSJ appraisal of Drugstore.com with a grain of salt.

JMHO,
Tom
