I experience that problem lots of times on MSFT options. They don't have the options for the month following earnings releases. MSFT almost always releases earnings after expiration (at least in the last little while--a year or so). Based upon past experience, they may start trading as early as next week. "johnd" knows something on the subject.

Stocks have different option cycles. MSFT apparently has an option cycle of January, April, July, and October. What this means is that MSFT will always have options available for those months (or at least the closer three). It will also always have options available for the two "in" months, in this case June and July. When the June options expire the two "in" months will be July and August and August options will be available.

Maybe someone has a link but I didn't find it discussed at the CBOE site with my quick scan.
