>>As has been mentioned here and at the CC's, Sun's Java has had more design wins with VxWorks than with all the competing OSs put together.<< JC, Last weekend I decided to take a drive to WIND's corporate headquarters in Alameda, California and see for myself their new premises. The buildings and the location are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I highly recommend it to folks here on this thread to check it out if you get a chance. I was fortunate to run into a QC engineer (working on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon) in the parking lot and he was most gracious to give me a tour of the inside. Lucky Me!!! The interior of the building is even more impressive. This Gentleman (he did not want me to mention his name on the thread), showed me the various sections of the headquarters. The tour included WRS's testing lab, various offices, recreation room, etc. I even got a chance to take a peek (through a glass panel) into the offices of Ron Ableman and Jerry Fiddler. Mr. Ableman's office, which is next door to Mr. Fiddler's is much more spacious and has a drop dead view! I was, to say the least, quite impressed and felt really proud to be invested in Wind River Systems. Later, he gave me an overview of WIND's business. Most of what he told me has already been discussed here on this thread. But there were a few points that I would like to bring to the thread's attention:* WRS plans to build three more buildings on the huge vacant lot at the site by the end of next year! Folks, unless Ableman and Company enjoy spending big bucks for kicks, which I really doubt, then they must see some serious growth in this company's future!* The company is most excited about it's relationship with Liberate and that we will be hearing lots of interesting developments emanating out of this very soon! * I was told that the new pricing model that WIND has recently incorporated will result in a temporary reduction in top line growth but going forward they expect revenues to increase handsomely. (That would explain the recent weakness in share price.)* He mentioned that 54% of SUN's Java design wins were on the backs of WIND! * Now this is something I am not sure if I got it right: He said that Intel has decided to use WIND's OS as the core OS to run their new family of microprocessors!?! Could this be possible??? If it is, then this could be HUGE!!! I hope someone on this thread with more technical savvy can shed some light on this possibility... Anyway, I am thrilled to have made this trip and was even more happy to note the quality of people that are employed at Wind River Systems. I think our company is in good hands! Good Luck to All!
