It's highly unlikely Goldman would buy 20% of Wit, then let the company go public (thereby making the 'purchase price' 6-12x higher), and then buy the whole company at the inflated price. Is that what people are thinking?

Without buying Wit straight out, I don't know how Goldmand clients could 'use Wit' for online trading, etc. I think Goldman will support Wit's online IPO distribution model because GS own such a large share of Wit, but beyond that I don't see the link.
