Looking at the chart again I wonder if what we saw was programmed trading kicking in to stop losses on two large short positions. at 14:10 the price went above 88, and the volume (and the price) surged. The volume had dropped off again, but the price was still climbing slowly, then at 15:30 the price went through 92, and there was another surge.

If this theory is right then about 1M of our short position (i.e. about 1/6th according to the last figures, covered this afternoon in the price range 88-95

Is this a reasonable view on what happened? If so does it tell us anything for tomorrow?
