S3 takeover news... Just got some info on the 3dfx, S3 takeover rumor. Apparently the source is inside 3dfx so that blows any theory of somebody trying to take down the price. The source of the money looks to be from the STB side of the table apparently (don't ask...I don't know either). I'm starting to think S3 is looking for a boardmaker and that's what these negotiations are about, not necessarily a takeover. S3 has shown they are already working deals with number nine so a similar deal with STB wouldn't be out of the question. One thing to consider... If number nine is a very small operation they wouldn't be able to support the potential expansion with Savage4 and Diamond can't pay their bills S3 is left with either 3dfx or Creative right? Pat
