I was just looking up the IBM Microdrive in the Renwick report when I noticed this statement:

"For the production of the Lanier products, the company is reliant on Eltech Electronics, Inc... has revenues in excess of $150 million. However, the company cannot be assured that Eltech will provide it with product in a timely fashion, or that the quality of the product will be acceptable to the Company."

I know: "Walter you worry too much."

But it makes me ask the question, why wasn't there a "we are very happy with the product" quote from a Lanier representative in the latest news release?

I know: Lanier is customer focused and Lanier's satisfaction will depend upon their customers' level of satisfaction. The same customers that had not received the products at the time of the news release.

What good was the news release without the customer saying that they are happy? They should have held on to the news until Lanier agreed to be included in the release. Does this mean that Lanier was not so happy that they refused to put the "we are very satisfied with the final product" comment in the news release?

Maybe they are positioning themselves to negotiate a better price with EDIG on the next contract. Maybe they are too busy with the spin-off from HRS.

What ever... I will be glad to read the Lanier news release about their Cquence Mobile.

If Lanier issues a news release and EDIG is not mentioned in it, how would that affect the stock price?

Now, back to IBM's Microdrive...

Savant,

That's not a very cost effective way to archive. Does anyone now how we'll archive music files? Flash/Microdrive will only work if it can be reused without loosing the music file. Otherwise it's way too expensive.

I read that consumers will be able to move the original file from the hard drive to flash. Can the file be moved numerous times? Can you sell the file to another user just as you would a book or CD?

I'm not very clear on these issues. I would appreciate some help.

Regards,
Kerry
