I believe that the breakdown in the moral order contributes to such things, and that any step to show society's commitment to responsible behavior is a step in the right direction.

It is not axiomatic that moral principles must be based upon religious faith. If you'll include the concept of rationally based morality in your above statement, then I'll buy it.

Neocon,

Who says their is a breakdown in moral order? Violent crime in this country is down for the eighth straight year. Personally, I would consider spending more money on finding and helping troubled kids to be much more a step in the right direction than posting the 10 commandments. Or is advocating spending tax dollars the wrong thing to promote on a Libertarian thread? <VBG>
