I doubt any retail brokerage in the US will let you short under $2

Ask DLJ, they might.

There are still many ways for you to do it though.

But not through a retail.

Thank you for your research. Isoman, or whatever his name is, is mistaken. But on this thread filled with TAP, Tilton and Isoman nothing would surprise me.

Again, Thank you.

As I read your post I started to wonder if you were a paid promoter for E*Trade or just not very knowledgeable about stock trading. Isoman is correct about shorting of stocks. Also there are many brokerage companies which will give you better prices, service and bandwidth, which you deserve if your serious about accumulating for the future. Of course if you just like to have your hand in the pot or want to be a legal gambler, than by all means continue to waste your time and money.

Regards,
Roy

OK, I'll respond with my bad experience. Last week I tried to short a stock and after about a 1/2 hour of not getting filled, I canceled the order. I placed several other orders during the day and when I checked the 'view orders' page, the new orders show up as filled and the canceled order shows up as canceled. Now, a week later, I go to my holdings page and find that I got filled on my short, but it still doesn't show up on my 'view orders' page. Nice huh? I call Discover and they say 'according to the SEC rules, we are only required to mail you confirmation of trades and sometimes our website doesn't get updated'. So basically, we screwed up, but you're going to pay for it. I'll be moving my accounts elsewhere.

You of all people should have known about shorting!
