>I think we can take silence for an admission that they blew it.<

Maybe not. Maybe they didn't blow it. It's all a matter of perspective. Who knows how much they got for allowing that wedge to be driven onto all of our screens. If you had someone make you a seven-figure Indecent Proposal and you didn't even have to rent your babe spouse out ... how would you choose?

I know that if I I I had the option of grabbing a few mil in exchange for the eternal disgust of a bunch of words on the computer screen ... I might just never log on again. And sip tropical drinks on some beach. Moral purity is a commodity.

To the Thread,

I can't possibly speak for SI or Go2Net, but I am pretty shocked by everyone's comments on the Datek ad issue over the last day or so.

Brad did not break his promise to us. There are others involved in the administrative decisions of SI besides Brad, and to bash him is not fair, IMO. To even bash the powers that be is also unjustified from where I sit, as things may not be as they seem.

SI has always been responsive to the users' comments and suggestions. They are not necessarily ignoring anything here and to jump to the conclusion that they're hiding out on this issue is premature.

Changes happen sometimes more slowly than we'd like. The ad only appeared yesterday... has anyone considered that the option for members to turn off ads might be forthcoming? I am only speculating, but I don't think that SI is the money-grubbing, promise-breaking group that they're being portrayed by many to be tonight.

Rather than assuming that Brad, Jeff, Jill, Bryan, and Bob are off cowering somewhere after "intentionally breaching a promise", has anyone considered the fact that stuff happens sometimes which would prohibit even the most responsive, concerned, and talented staff from implementing the next step in a complicated plan to better the site? It doesn't seem so to me. These people do their best and put up with LOTS of whiners constantly! Man, I'd hate to work for some of you guys! :)

Funny how quickly people can turn on those they claim to admire when every demand is not immediately met and with apologies, no less. So, let's cut them some slack and give them a chance to make things right. That, IMO, has been their goal from day one. We might all be very surprised to learn that much time complaining has been wasted as the wheels are and were always turning.

Just my opinions here tonight.

Best To All,
V.
