Hi Ben,
If I remember right CPQ's EP preannounce a week before earnings,
I don't quite understand the so called quite period as I've noticed that it seems to get broken all the time and is conveniently used to what ever advantage is deemed best.
In any case it does appear that, there is controlled, manipulated releases of information which was a point of contention, ( was there was enough shrewdness to put it to use ).

I have been so desensitized with disappointing news that I'm not really expecting any great revelation on Monday / Tuesday, but revel in the speculation of what could be going on, and what might be in the minds of these CEO's. The one curiosity I hope will be revealed in the next few days is just how much control Jody has and how much of what has happened is embroiled in crises.

So tell me, it appears that at times the options seen to have controlled the closing price and at times it hasn't, what do you think of this closing and the appearance of large institutional buying? The news was hugely bad and the option put numbers to me didn't seem to be in sufficient numbers to outweigh the downside potential of holding on to shares that have ( by virtue of the bad news ) IMO a greater downside risk? And also as I look forward at August's huge 5's and larger 7.5's put numbers, would you say that the writers will pull IOM's price to one of these points ? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Regards
Reseller

Ben -

As I posted recently, I believe that the 30 day "quiet period" extends for a period of 30 days overlapping the earnings announcement. In other words, about two weeks before to about two weeks after, for a total of 30 days. Of course, I could be wrong.

Now that I think about it, though, maybe that doesn't make sense. Why would they need to be quiet after an earnings report?

OK. Never mind.
