One of the things I think I'm hearing here is that BellSouth could be somehow fix the situation that's developed since QWST went on their quest for a Baby Bell. But I don't understand how that could happen. If it comes down to a choice between the two alternatives, would it be preferable to have an RBOC running Qwest or to have Qwest running an RBOC? I think I'd prefer the second alternative, despite the drop we saw in the past week.

If BLS wanted to buy QWST, I doubt that they'd pay the kind of premium that they paid for their 10% stake. After all, the market has put a lower-than-expected value on an RBOC/QWST combination. Why QWST would be worth more if it were to combine with BLS instead of USW?

Those are really questions up there. I'd like to hear more about how and why BLS could become involved in this.
