Chop--I agree wholeheartedly...I have 3 non-flipped WIT accounts and as more and more people have flipped and new account creations have slowed with the inet selloff, my WIT allocations for all three accounts has INCREASED. I'm much more selective than ever, but what I ask for I get. I passed on last weeks POS and only requested VIANT and got it in all 3 accounts. Previously I got CARI in all 3 accounts. This week I passed on SEARCH, STAMP, and will pass on WATERHOUSE. However, I requested JUNIPER in all 3 accounts and will hold all if I get any. I'm looking to build a portfolio of the strong IPOs at WIT and be viewed as an old-timer with tenure there. I started on my IPO learning curve in May.

BTW, I've honed in on a series of questions I will post for every IPO that becomes available. I'm hoping we can collectively develop a rating system of our own to assess whether or not to accept allocations for the IPOs coming down the pike. Here's what I have so far. I would appreciate everyone's input.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the winning IPOs-- biz.yahoo.com

On their first day of trading investors bid these shares up to more than
10 times their IPO price. What made these IPOs so compelling?

They had many of the following exceptional characteristics. Now you
decide whether or not this IPO has what is takes to be a winner, too:

* Does this company have a unique business model, product, or service?
YES=1 NO=0

* Is this company the "first-mover" in its market niche and do its
competitors face significant barriers to enter its market?
YES=1 NO=0

* Does this company have strong brand recognition and a loyal customer base?
YES=1 NO=0

* Is this company run by a strong management team with prior successful
public venture experience?
YES=1 NO=0

* Does this company operate in a rapidly expanding market niche?
YES=1 NO=0

* Was this company backed early on by leading venture capital firms?
YES=1 NO=0

* Is the float relatively small (3-5 million shares)?
YES=1 NO=0

* Is the IPO price range relatively low ($10)?
YES=1 NO=0

* Is this company being underwritten by at least one of the three
best-performing lead underwriters--Morgan Stanley Dean Witter,
Merrill Lynch, and Goldman Sachs?
YES=1 NO=0

(These brokers are very careful in choosing the companies they underwrite
because they need to protect their long-established reputation for
offering quality IPOs and quality investments. If this IPO passes
muster with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Merrill Lynch, or Goldman Sachs,
it's usually a good deal.)

Chop Chop, Flipping or not flipping is a tough decision. I have lost 12K for not flipping etoys. Now In the old days I could open 4 accounts (which is impossible now). One account as u know is for flipping and secondaries. I got mail and STAD on flipped accounts,
and fipped for an overnite 15% combined profit. I think I am going to get TWE on the flipped account because of the huge float (like BNBN and WIT) and going to flip. This kind of profit taking is good to balance IPOs going below IPO price.
Again I say to flip or not to is a very personal issue. As with stockmarket it is a chance. Inretrospection it would have been very wise to flip eToys and get BNBN and WIT and flip them too. But this is all hing site. If bu chance I gat a stock that goes up like 50-70 bucks (like eToys, TSCM or PCLN) on day one I am going to flip and go to 60Day IPO Jail. I sent u a PM, did u get it?

I think that on Goldman Sachs IPO, a reasonable assumption to make is that Wit will be getting more rather than less shares all other things being = because of GS ownership interest in WIT
