Hi, Jeff. Thanks for getting rid of the Green Eggs so quickly. The Spam, however, is beginning to get a little moldy. Are you guys gonna just leave it on the table forever? TIA for your response.

Glad to have you here. There has been concern about the absence of response from SI.

Appreciate the change from the puke green.

But the Datek ad still seems to be a solicitation, in violation of what many members were lead to believe they were getting when they laid their money down.

Can you explain what exactly is going on?

Thanks.

Re SI's responses...

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for coming online and lending some perspective. I am glad SI still believes in dialog.

It is of course, as you say, a link. Would you or Brad care to address whether it is a solicitation to visit Datek and whether seeing it on every single page is "bombardment"?

By suggesting a cosmetic alternative, do you mean to imply that SI is not open to eliminating the link, and we therefore can abandon this discussion?

If as you seem to imply the link is to be part and parcel of a trading mechanism, why does it appear on non-stock-specific pages?

I accept without reservation your explanation (you adopt, I take it, V's post) that Russell's response on this matter was not meant to be ill-humored. That said, it was, IMO, how to say it, un-deft.

SI's founders and GNET have created and maintained a fabulous machine in SI; it is very much a compliment that members who appreciate it (and who also help maintain it) will continue to defend it against any real or perceived threat.

Best wishes,
Tom

BTW, re "nobody loves Datek." What a crock. Datek's user numbers speak to that.
