On this thread we have all known that when 'religion' was discussed, we meant a God-centered construct. I agree that the same zeal and suspension of disbelief that obtains in religion, and probably even some of the same brain waves, often attaches in ideology of a non-theistic nature. But here it's just playing with words, isn't it? Last night was horrible. People lost their tempers and felt very emotional and said inhumane and inflammatory things about each other and to each other. My perception is that Christopher came back today determined to recapture the civility by which his dialog had been characterized before the recent engagement. But that he is being poked with a stick in areas known to be tender, and so the prevailing mood of last night is close to prevailing again. We have been friends here, albeit friends who disagree on many issues. It seems possible to me that this discussion could be carried on at some future time, after having been divided into some manageable segments, maybe; but that right now is a destructive time to do it. This is MHO.
