RE: SETI calculations

It took my system 60 hours to do one work unit on a Cyrix PR-333 96MB - too long. I subsequently upgraded to a K6-2 400, but have not run the software again. Even when running in screen saver mode, version 1.0 of the software does a poor job of freeing the memory it uses, so I'm going to wait for new version of the software before trying again. My K6-2 400, 128MB, ATI-3D charger AGP card, 5400rpm Fujitsu drive got a score of 19.4 on Winstone 99 running under Windows 98.

BTW, is the K7 going to be released this week? PC Expo seems like an opportune time for release, but AMD is not listed as an exhibitor.

I'm thinking of upgrading another system with a Celeron. What is the best Socket 370 AT board?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Bob

Re: "Is anyone else here doing SETI calculations as Elmer suggested? I am running one per 28 hours on K6-III 400 and about 1 per 65 hours on k6-200. Any other results or comment around?"

Set your screen saver to use Seti@home then select "settings" and click on "go to blank screen".

It cut the time for my Celeron 450MHz down from ~28 hours to a little over 10 hours.
