It's not only the weight of the wafers, it's the value. One cassette of completed wafers could contain $1 million worth of chips (in the case of microprocessors, for instance) and the slightest speck or even jiggling of the wafers can destroy the delicate circuitry. That's why chip makers don't want people carrying the WIP around. They certainly wouldn't want two people trying to share the load. If one of them trips, you can kiss $1 million in revenue goodbye.
